Instead…I tripped and fell in my barn Monday evening, falling against my wood splitter and breaking a rib. It doesn’t look like we will be sailing for a few weeks since I have to be careful how I move and can’t lift and pull. As soon as the doctor says I can, I will be there though. Need to feel the wind in my face. Until then, y’all enjoy and think of me when you are on that perfect reach. Jim Ahoy! Spring is here! Time to go sailing! Lets make this season better than last. Hopefully, Dutch Treat is repaired and back in the water. I’m looking forward to seeing you all again REAL SOON. We need to try to set up a meeting soon but my own schedule is pretty full ’til May. I don’t even think we will be able to go for a sail before then but we’ll see. As far as the club organization, we REALLY need to get something going. This sort of, kind of club thing is driving me bonkers. Either we want to or not. I figure if there are at least six or eight we can do it and then recruit. I think Charly, Frank, Seth, Mike, the two Daves and I should be enough to get this thing started. I realize that Mike is the only power boat (houseboat) skipper but maybe he could help recruit on that side. That’s it for now. Cap’n Jim This email just in from the Harbormaster - Subject: I’m trying to compile a listing of all events that we are going to do this season. I would love to include some listings for the SLYC.. Any ideas are welcome! maybe we could… Meet and greet Thanks, Well, Christmas is behind us and I hope everyone had a good one. Did Santa bring you lots of boat stuff? I hope Charley got his frostbite sail in over the holidays. He was looking for crew on the CREW page before Christmas, did anyone sign up? As for me, well, I can wait a few more weeks ’til Spring. Am looking forward to seeing you all on the water this season. And lets really commit to getting the Club going. Well, the Sardis Cup Regatta is behind us and the season is mostly over. I don’t know about you but to me it seems it went too fast. Where did the summer go? I do wish that there was more active interest in the yacht club and participation on this web site. this site was set up using a WordPress blog format so that everyone could contribute but there doesn’t seem to be much activity here. We see each other on the water but can’t seem to get organized. I wish I had had a camera aboard in race 3 as Serendipity crossed El Tiberon at the windward mark. Man! She really had a bone in her teeth! Coming down like a fast freight! Wasn’t sure for a few minutes if we could cross. She was on starboard tack and we were on port. I had Mike Kelly (novice) for crew in that one and am kind of glad he didn’t know to be nervous. The wind was really too much for Serendipity and we were really pushing the limits. Add to that a close crossing at a closing speed of close to 15 knots and it could have been interesting! Much more so than the incident between Seth and Jay. So, its time to start thinking and planning for next year. And this site is, probably, the only place we will come together before spring so, PLEASE, jump in and post. If you aren’t familiar with blogs and don’t know how to post, read the How To; it gives brief See you here, I hope, and on the water next year. And let’s try to really get the Club organized before then. Okay? Jim |
