I received the following email from Cap’n Charley Sheets that you might be interested in. “Jim, I have been trying to post a message to the site with no results. I have talked to three other boat owners about doing a raft-up at Black Jack cove Oct. 22nd. If you would put the word out i would apreciate it. Give me a call at 901-896-6030. Love to get more people involved. Hope to have you there also. Charley Sheets” I don’t believe we will be able to make it but it sounds like fun. Give him a call or email him at boomer4tug@yahoo.com
Checked Marina Facebook page a few minutes ago and saw the notice from Rick posted around 11:00 PM last night that the Sardis Cup Regatta is on AS SCHEDULED for next weekend Sept. 24 & 25. It is short notice but really, REALLY try to turn out. I didn’t expect this to happen on schedule because Rick had indicated that everything would need to be rescheduled because of the salvage/repair work had them tied up but There You Go. I just hope we can work out our details so that we can make it. Hope to see you there. Cap’n Jim
I talked to Rick by phone today. He says the shrimp boil will be rescheduled. Just too much going on right now to try to have it as planned. Forgot to ask about the regatta. Hopefully, he will be posting an update on everything soon.
The annual Sardis Cup Regatta is coming up soon. What is your status? A few boats were damaged in the STORM and that might limit the fleet if boats aren’t race-ready by then. Rick says all events are going as scheduled; Shrimp Boil this month and Sardis Cup next month so let Rick know if you are going to (or not) participate. This has been a chaotic sailing season. Early on the winds were extremely high and gusty. When the winds abated, the temps went to the near 100 degree range. Finally, things seem to be getting a little more normal. So, we are planning to get in as much time on the water as possible between now and the cold weather.
Finally! I got to go for a sail. Rick et. al. have cleared most of the wreckage and have it contained with a boom. A-Dock and the fuel dock have been reconnected but there is still no water or electricity anywhere. F-Dock, obviously, is gone and there is massive damage to G but the rest are serviceable; you can get to your boat and you can safely leave and return to the harbor. The weather was iffy Thursday but I really NEEDED to go sailing. Things worked out okay; no storm, fair wind, but it WAS hot. Had to single hand because my first mate had other commitments but it wasn’t a problem. Rick says the remaining event schedule is still on so we hope to see you at the Shrimp Boil and the Regatta. And on the water between now and then.
